Dentoalveolar surgical treatment may be performed for difficult tooth extractions, bone grafting or preprosthetic surgery when a better local anatomy is needed for the placement of implants and prostheses.
Performed for various reasons, dental extractions are most often performed for teeth decayed beyond restoration, dental trauma and severe periodontal disease. It is not unusual for orthodontists to recommend extractions.
